Our History
OAKLAND,Ca was founded by Horace Carpenter, Edson Adams and Andrew Moon in the 19th century. However prior to that it was owned by Spanish conquistadors until they struck a deal with Luis Maria Peralta.
The Peralta Family
Shortly after he received it, Peralta passed in 1842, dividing the land between his sons. His sons named the area Encinal because of the massive number of Oak trees in their home. Later, the meaning was loosely translated by Horace Carpentier, who is known as the town's very first electoral mayor.
